I passed rows of houses when I first arrived
That were foreign to me.
I thought it’d feel like home, but
There were no lawns, and they marched
Down block after block, identical.
It’s strange,
How I longed to come, to find a place
I might belong, but when I left, I cried,
Anxious for home.
